CRUSING THE INSIDE PASSAGE:
SUMMER VACATION 2001

By: Rice & Gerry
Date: 7/21/01

This is where we began,
docked at Canada
Place
.
The view outside our
balcony. We were
Starboard side, I think.
The ship sailed at a
pretty brisk pace
through the Inside
Passage
.

A view from the top.
Cloudy day, 'twas.
Skies have cleared. You
can see the little tug
boat behind us.
A distant view of the
Mendenhall Glacier
in Juneau.

A big, close-up look
at the glacier. Dang, it
looked filthy. But it's
only sediment, I think.
A little waterfall
complementing the
Glacier on the side.
I took this from the tram
on the way to the top of
Mount Roberts. That's
the Infinity!

A shot from the top of
the mountain. You're
looking South, I think.
Now you're looking
North. Notice why it's
called the Inside
Passage
.
One last shot. This time
with some greenery in
the foreground.

An upclose pic of our
cruise ship. With a nice
mountain backdrop.
The rickity train we
took at Skagway. It was
$94 per person!
A shot from the train.
Lots of small streams
po pulate the mountain.

Another shot from the
train. That black speck
in the distance is our
docked ship.
A view of our train in
action. Toot, toot!
The quaint settlement of
Skagway. Even has an
online cafe and an
outlet store.

This was about as dark
as night got in Alaska.
The sun sets at 11 p.m.
and rises at 2 a.m.!!
Pretty snow-capped
mountains were a dime
a dozen.
Tilt your head sideways
for this shot of the icy
ocean.

That's me on a hot day.
Gerry's behind the
camera wearing shorts.
My only postcard-worthy
photo. And it was taken
behind a dusty window
at Trellis, too!
