L.A. AUTO SHOW 2001 COVERAGE

Obviously, the entire car show was much bigger than this. There were the traditional mundane everyday cars like the Toyota's and GMC's littered throughout the convention center. Then there were the super exotic concept cars, like one seemingly without headlights. I didn't bother taking pictures of those.
Hm. Other notes:

The actual car in the showroom was blue... |

... and it looked even better in person! |

I was
lining up to get a chance at sitting in it, until a bunch of rude people started cutting in line. Hmph. |
In the Porsche section, the Carrera GT was isolated on an island in the middle of a pond (with a ton of change thrown in it). Twilight Zone-ish music was played as spotlights from above circled the otherwise pitch black arena. What an atmosphere it generated! Porsche's new V10 concept car is rumored to be starting production soon in Europe. I'll be able to afford one (barely) when I sell my parent's house.
There was a special section set aside in the convention for misc. stuff like fixed up cars. There, they sold rims, bodykits, and all sorts of hardware that mod junkies are into. There was this Chrysler PT Cruiser with an awesome sound system setup. I sat in it to experience its multimedia extravagance for a bit before I got yelled at by the owner to scram. =)
One racing team had its Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari 550 Maranello on display. Too bad I ran out of memory by then a long time ago. I think they were on sale, but the important thing was that they weren't sealed off, so I was able to smear my fingerprints all over both their black exterior. Now I can honestly claim I've touched both a Maranello and a Diablo. They cost about half a million US dollars combined, folks. =P
It was definitely a positive experience overall. I'll be waiting for next year's show, and my goal before then is to acquire a better digital camera. Hopefully prices for them will take a dive in the near future. Okay, that wraps it up. Until Rice World's next pictorial article, cheers.
