Here are my predictions for the Western Conference.

*W E S T E R N   C O N F E R E N C E *

Midwest Division

1.) San Antonio Spurs (2) – As long as you have the Twin Towers, the title never is too far out of reach. The addition of Steve Smith gives them a solid veteran scorer, but this team is thin as hell.

2.) Dallas Mavericks (4) – This team might go the way of the Washington Redskins – pay a bunch of money to get useless free agents and underachieve. Doubt it though.

3.) Utah Jazz (5) – Pox on the Jazz! Let’s see them run their fucking pick ‘n’ roll now! It'll be interesting to see what Jerry Sloan comes up w/ now that zone can be played. Someone other than Mailman needs to step up.

4.) Minnesota Timberwolves – Am I the only one who thinks the Timberwolves suck? They got nobody besides KG, and they’ll never get anyone good because of his salary-cap draining salary.

5.) Houston Rockets – The Rockets are now young and fast. But they got nobody down low. Look for Steve Francis to make the All-Star team. The dude is awesome.

6.) Memphis Grizzlies – They’re going through a relocation transition, so this will be an adjustment year for them. Things are looking up, but first, they should get a new moniker.

7.) Denver Nuggets – The Nuggets will show flashes of brilliance, then totally implode like they always do. Doesn’t help that All-Star PF Antonio McDyess is out a while.

Pacific Division

1.) Los Angeles Lakers (1) – The only team that could stop the Lakers is themselves. Will Shaq get his fat ass in shape? Will the new guys learn the triangle offense? Will Kobe divorce his wife?

2.) Sacramento Kings (3) – I love the Kings, and I root for them whenever they don’t play the Lakers. They have a real shot at the title, now that they re-signed PF Chris Webber.

3.) Portland Trail Blazers (6) – They got rid of little prick coach Mike Dunleavy. Will this give them a shot in the arm? It all depends on PF Rasheed Wallace keeping his head in the game.

4.) Los Angeles Clippers (7) – Woohoo! The Clippers are making the playoffs baby! They might just be the most exciting team in the league. Man, I’m psyched. Gonna be hanging out @ Staples Center this season.

5.) Phoenix Suns (8) – Backcourt 2001 will have to carry this team, and I think they can. But Phoenix lacks competent big men. They do have plenty of scoring, and this should carry them into the playoffs.

6.) Seattle Supersonics – New logo = new success? Highly doubtful, but the future is bright. Like the Pacers, the Sonics have a good young core and just need one key free agent pickup.

7.) Golden State Warriors – Wtf are they doing in Oakland? Why retain C Marc Jackson? They have a team loaded w/ C’s and PF’s that will inevitably lead to clashes over minutes.
