1.) Oakland Raiders - Because L.A. doesn't have a team, and the Raiders used to play here, we get a lot of Oakland telecasts on our local stations. I'm really going to miss Jon Gruden. He was my favorite member of that team. With that said, Oakland still has some gas left in their aging legs. Rich Gannon is so smart, and is nearly impossible to sack with that laser sidearm delivery of his. And of course, Tim Brown and Jerry Rice are practically ageless. They can be on crutches, yet still catch TD passes. Defense wise, there isn't a better corner in the NFL than Charles Woodson. He'll blanket the Eric Moulds and the Marvin Harrisons.
2.) Denver Broncos - I've always liked Brian Griese as a QB. If Mike Shanahan's incomparable offensive schemes chug on all cylinders, Griese's as good as automatic. Too bad Terrell Davis had to retire, but no matter. Somehow, Denver's O-line always produces 1,000 yard backs. I bet I could get 1,000 yards if I ran behind those monsters. (Yeah right.)
3.) Kansas City Chiefs - I remember Priest Holmes was a less than impressive RB back in college, but somehow, he bust through for over 1,500 yards last season. And he can catch, too--62 of 'em to be exact. We'll find out if he's the real deal this season. Trent Green is at best another Jay Fielder: keep your passes safe (preferably towards Tony Gonzalez) and feed your back constantly.
4.) San Diego Chargers - Has there ever been a more consistently excellent linebacker than Junior Seau in the history of the NFL? Him and perennial winning coach Marty Schottenheimer are the only bright spots for the 'Bolts. Drew Brees has an arm, true, but so did this guy named Ryan Leaf. I can't imagine LaDanian Tomlinson repeating his success last season, but we'll see. I heard rookie corner Quentin Jammer is exciting to watch, but will that help them win games?
