2002 Rice World Oscar Sweepstakes

It's that time of year again! I usually avoid awards shows like the plague. They're always full of freakishly dressed celebrities who don't really want to be there, but show up anyway to avoid bad PR. The winners are pre-determined, and the faux expressions of disbelief are nauseating.

There are two awards shows, however, that I still watch: The Academy Awards and the MTV Movie Awards. The latter offers hilarious skits and live performances by bands I actually want to see, but one can't really give a rat's ass about categories like "Best Kiss." To me, the Oscars are still the granddaddy of all awards shows.

A couple years ago, we here at Rice World set up a contest pitting our readers against each other in a contest to see who could pick the most Oscar winners correctly. We're bringing it back this year, but w/ a few changes. To enter, submit an entry by filling out the form at the bottom of the page. You will predict the winner for each major category. 

You can submit more than one entry, but we'll only take the most recently received one as your official ballot. As long as the e-mail address matches up, go ahead and make revisions. Please make your picks by Sunday March 24, 2002. 

The winner gets............. an all-expense-unpaid trip to Disney World!!! Just kidding. The prize will remain a mystery. Who knows what it will be? Money? Pornography? Strip-o-gram? You'll just have to win the damn contest and find out.

That's all I'll say about the 2002 Academy Awards, because I don't want to influence anyone's picks. But take this picture into consideration and think about the long arm of the government. =)
